LibreOffice 5.0 has been available since August 5th for Linux, MacOS X, and Windows. This marks the tenth major release since the project's launch and the first of the third development cycle.
LibreOffice 5.0 builds upon the success of the 4.x family, which has been deployed by over 80 million users, including major organizations in Europe and South America.
LibreOffice 5.0 features a significantly improved user interface, with enhanced screen space management. Furthermore, it offers better interoperability with office suites such as Microsoft Office and Apple iWork, thanks to new filters for handling non-standard formats. Additional improvements have been made across all modules of the suite, and a version for 64-bit Windows (Vista and later) is now available.
New features for the spreadsheet application include complex formulas, conditional formatting, image cropping, improved import and export filters, and timestamping of generated PDF files.
