The Document Foundation (TDF) maintains its rapid development pace with the announcement of LibreOffice 3.4.3, aimed at enterprise deployments. This new version arrives two weeks after version 3.3.4 and one month after the previous release in the 3.4 family, which delivers a broader set of features based on cleaner and more concise code.

TDF manages two editions of LibreOffice to meet the needs of a large and diverse user base, although they strongly recommend everyone to upgrade to the 3.4 series. LibreOffice 3.4.2 has already been deployed by users at Itaipu Binacional in Brazil, the largest power plant in the world, and has been key to launching a large-scale migration project involving 25,000 desktop computers in hospitals in Copenhagen, Denmark.

LibreOffice 3.4.3 is available for immediate download in more than 100 language versions.

LibreOffice 3.3.4 fixes several bugs, and the next maintenance release 3.3.5 is scheduled for October. In the meantime, development continues on the 3.4 series, which offers new features. The next version of this branch - LibreOffice 3.4.3 - is expected by the end of August.

For large companies deploying LibreOffice on their PCs, it is still recommended to deploy LibreOffice 3.3.3, which has been tested for several months by thousands of users worldwide. LibreOffice 3.4.2, expected at the end of July, will enable enterprise deployments with a very stable version.

According to Thorsten Behrens, a developer and member of the TDF Steering Committee, "LibreOffice 3.3.3 fixes several bugs and enhances the security of the suite, specifically addressing the needs of enterprise deployments, where stability is more important than new features. This branch will be maintained until the end of the year, allowing for a smooth and secure transition to LibreOffice 3.4.x."

LibreOffice 3.3 is the first stable version available for download of the free and open-source office suite provided by the Document Foundation.

LibreOffice 3.3 includes several tools for everyday office work. It can be used to write documents, create spreadsheets, prepare presentations, draw vector graphics, edit mathematical formulas, and manage databases.

It includes the following standard components:

• Calc - The spreadsheet
• Writer - The word processor
• Impress - The presentation software
• Draw - The vector drawing tool
• Math - The mathematical formula editor
• Base - The database management system

These components cover the main uses of an office suite. Writer is intended for text documents, Calc for tables and calculations, Impress for slideshows, Draw for diagrams and vector drawings, Math for formulas, and Base for database management.
